Rules for Competitions
A competition should only be entered if the entrant is available for the date of the final. The finals of all internal competitions will be played on Finals Day.
All rounds including semi-finals of the internal competitions must be completed by the end date set for the completion of each round. Failure to do so could result in disqualification. Any person seeking to play a competition match after the set date must have a valid reason and must seek the prior approval of the Club Captain or Vice-Captain. They must also have the agreement of their opponent(s). All members are encouraged to arrange to play their matches as soon as possible to help avoid congestion in the last few weeks of each round.
If during the course of a competition a member is no longer able to play on the date of the Final they must notify the Club Captain or Vice-Captain immediately and only in exceptional circumstances will they be allowed to proceed. If a player does withdraw from a competition the opponent(s) they were due to play in the next round will receive a bye.
The onus is on the player(s) named first in any draw to make contact with their opponent(s) and to make arrangements for the date and time of the match. The contact telephone numbers for opponents can be obtained from the Office (this number must only be used for arranging the match). Once a match has been arranged, the details should be recorded in the Green-Booking Diary. The Green-Booking Diary can be found on the table in the Clubhouse lobby.
Internal competition matches should not be booked when any of the following are scheduled - inter-club matches; organised Club competitions; Club scheduled bowling sessions; or green maintenance. At all other times, Internal competition matches have preferential access to the green.
When an internal competition match is being played the number of jacks on the green is limited to four.
An Internal competition match is given preference when setting a mark on the green.
On the day of any internal competition match, players should avoid playing on the Green prior to their match. If this is unavoidable, they must offer their opponent(s) a 15 minute roll-up (with a partner of choice if they so wish) immediately prior to the match.
The leader at the first end shall be determined by the toss of a coin.
The BCGBA Laws of the Game shall apply to all internal competition matches. There must be no coaching of competitors by spectators during any competition match.
